To install glass railing:
To install glass railing posts with a surface mount system, begin by securing the metal posts to the desired surface using the appropriate anchors. Attach the glass clips to the posts, ensuring each clip is aligned with the glass panels. Use bolts to secure the clips to the pre-drilled glass panels for added strength. Ensure the clips grip the glass tightly, with rubber cushioning to prevent damage. Finally, make sure everything is level and tighten the fasteners to complete the installation.
The standoff pin system for frameless glass railing offers a polished, sleek look while maintaining strength. To install, secure the 2″ round metal pins in the desired location. These sturdy 2205 duplex stainless steel pins securely hold the glass panels. The rubber grip in each pin ensures the glass stays firmly in position without damaging it.
How To Measure For Glass Railing – Surface Talons
To get precise measurements for your glass railing system, use the included glass railing measuring kit, which contains:
Step 1: Identify Your First Run
Locate the first run on the post layout drawing and mark it on your deck for easy reference.
Step 2: Using The Template
Use the template guide with acrylic talon spigots to represent the mounting feet. Measure the overhang and position the templates, ensuring that the mounting locations are directly under the finished deck board for safety and compliance.
Step 3: Mounting Acrylic Templates
Align the glass edges with a 1″ gap between them, then mount the templates using the supplied screws.
Step 4: Templating for Stairs
When reaching the stair section, set the second template, ensuring the overhang and alignment are consistent with the first. Mount it into solid material beneath.
Step 5: Recording Information & Repeating
Measure the distance from one template foot to the other and record the measurements on the template guide. Repeat the process for all level runs. Once complete, submit the measurements to the engineering team.
The glass base rail system features a thin metal rail at the bottom of the structure that securely holds each glass panel in place. The glass panels themselves act as the handrail, eliminating the need for an additional metal or wood handrail.
How To: Measuring For Glass U-Channel & Base Rail
To ensure precise measurements for your glass railing system, use the provided measuring kit, which includes:
Step 1: Identify Your First Run
Locate the first run on the post layout drawing in the measuring kit and mark it on your deck to prepare for the next step.
Step 2: How to Use the Base Rail Templates
The base rail measuring kit includes two acrylic templates:
The goal is to position the templates 1” from the outside edge, ensuring that the mounting locations align directly beneath the finished deck board for safety and code compliance.
First, measure any overhang and position the templates accordingly.
Step 3: Installing the Acrylic Pieces
Place the corner acrylic piece in the corner, accounting for the overhang. Mount the template with screws, securing it to the decking. Repeat the process for the straight template at the opposite end.
Step 4: Measuring the Run
Once both templates are installed, measure the distance between them using a tape measure. Hook the tape on the outside edge of the template, then measure to the opposite end.
Step 5: Recording the Run Type & Length
On the back of the template guide, record the run type (straight, corner, or combinations) and the run length (distance between the templates).
The glass talon spigot system consists of glass panels secured by spigot clamps. There are two types of talon spigots:
Both configurations ensure a sleek, modern appearance while maintaining structural integrity.
